GIVEAWAY: October Overhauling Penalty

GIVEAWAY!!     NOTE:  THIS GIVEAWAY IS NOW CLOSED!!!

As the title says, this giveaway is an October Overhauling Penalty.

See, for the month of October I wasn't supposed to buy any new crafty stuff.  NONE.  I was doing really well at this until a fateful trip to Tuesday Morning (that's a closeout store, like a Big Lots).

I did not go into Tuesday Morning planning to buy anything at all, really.  I was just killing time while my wifey went into the bike shop next door.

And then it happened.  I wandered down the crafty aisle and spied packs of fat quarters.  Now normally packs at big box stores (like Joanne's) do nothing for me and I can just pass on by.  But this pack was GOOD.  It was Riley Blake Farm Fresh.  Yup.  Super cute farm animals in dusty blue and brown colors.  Seven fat quarters for $9.99.

So I bought it.

And since I did, I decided I need to give away an equal amount of stuff from my stash to make room for the new addition (and as a penalty for breaking the simple "rule" of "no buying").

So. . .here's what's up for grabs.

Six fat quarters and a charm pack.

I wanted to offer seven fat quarters but I needed to weed down my warm colors and I just couldn't find one more that went well with the red/pink theme I kind of stumbled into.

For the record, I like all of these shown.  So I'm not just getting rid of something I dislike and calling it a penalty.

See!  Those are all quilt shop quality fat quarters.  Designer stuff.  Since I buy mystery fat quarter bundles, I can't list designer/collection names but I'm sure you might recognize some of them (I know the red riding hood piece is very popular--it stung to give that one away but I do have a bit of yardage of that pattern in a different color so it was only a small pang).

I tried to set them up in pairs.  So two light pinks (red riding hood and whales).  Two "country" looking ones (which have a pinky hue to them).  Two red (they don't match exactly, one is brighter red).

Since I couldn't find seven fat quarters, I decided I could part with one of my charm packs.

It's "Cotton Couture" from Michael Miller.  All solid colors.  It's a THICK stack (not sure exact count).  It's new and un-opened.  I won two of these in a giveaway so passing one along feels good.  (yeah, I could eventually use them both but it would take forever).

SO. . .

Want a chance to win ALL that?

NOTE:  GIVEAWAY IS NOW CLOSED!!!

First. . .the rules.

1.  One entry per person.
2.  Giveaway runs until October 31.  Winner will be contacted via email and winner announced in separate post at this blog.
3.  U.S. entries only.  (sorry, international folks--I'll be having other giveaways, but this one is too heavy/fat)

How to enter:

NOTE:  GIVEAWAY IS NOW CLOSED!!!

1.  Leave a comment saying something POSITIVE or KIND ABOUT YOURSELF.  This is required.  It doesn't have to be anyting dramatic, but you must do it for your entry to count.

(and if you're a no-reply person or anonymous, make sure you leave an email address)

Simple, huh.  Just say something nice about yourself and you might win a great prize.

GOOD LUCK TO YOU ALL!

  7. Something positive about me -- I am someone that others can depend on. If I say I'll do something, I will. Also, something you might find to be a positive (judging from your profile pic), is that I'm a Steeler fan. Great giveaway, thanks for the chance!

  8. Wow - Great idea for the required giveaway comment. I would say that I am very compassionate - I not only feel others' pain , but see it as a duty to understand what they are going through. Thanks for the chance to win - I admire your attempt at self-discipline.

  12. Sigh. I was thinking "I should go check Tuesday Morning in my neighborhood!" Then I saw you were from Pittsburgh. And mentioned a bike shop next door. 99% sure you were in my neighborhood and already scored whatever goodies were there :)

    1. The Tuesday Morning in East Liberty (in the Trader Joe's lot)?

They had quite a few fabric bundles AND cutting mats and rotary cutters and rulers, too. (you know I would have bought more if it wasn't for the buying ban!). (but there were only two different bundle styles)

They also had a lot of scrapbooking stuff (which I'm glad I don't do or I would have gone broke).

  17. Something good about me. Hard to think of right now, with the personal stuff going on for me, but I'll go with the fact that I'm a good momma to my kitty. LOL. I haven't been home much lately and boy has she missed me, the poor thing.

  18. Something good about myself...I'm happy with my life, which hasn't always been true. I'm in Mexico, but if I win I would like to have it sent to my daughter in WA who got me back into quilting after a 25+ year absence.

  30. I heard about scoring fabrics at Tuesday Morning but so far I haven't been so lucky. I'm a retired librarian & still enjoy helping people find what they need. Maybe it shows in my face, but I get stopped on the street & in stores by folks asking for help. Thanks for the chance to win.

  31. good thing there aren't penalties for buying fabric all the time! i usually have a smile on my face. :)

  32. Well, one quilter's penalty is another woman's winning, ehh? I watch my grandchildren once a week and try to do something nice for my daughter since she works so hard. This week I noticed she was out of a few essential groceries, so my grandson and I went to the store - I think that qualifies. Thanks for the chance to win - Love that fabric!!

  33. This is a great giveaway! I hear about people finding fun stuff in Tuesday Morning, but I haven't been in there in awhile to see if mine has any goodies! Ok, something nice about myself....I smile all the time. I'm not just talking about once in awhile, or when something makes me happy, but pretty much all the time. I smile at everybody I see, strangers in the store, etc. I have been told more than once that my smile has brightened someone's day. And I don't care if that person isn't smiling back, they're still going to get a smile from me :D

  34. Wow, what a great giveaway. I have been wanting to try the couture solids. This may be my chance if I'm lucky. :) Thank you! Something nice about myself...I like the color of my eyes. Blue is my favorite color so I'm glad they are blue.

  36. I love to sew for charity, so I guess you'd call me a charitable person. I make tote bags, walker/wheelchair bags, eyeglass cases, pillows, and other items for seniors in a nursing home and for children in a domestic violence shelter. I'm the co-owner of the Yahoo group, World of Charity Stitching, so I also cross stitch squares to be made into lap quilts by some of our talented quilters. These are donated to the nursing home, the shelter and the Ronald McDonald House.
    Thanks for a nice giveaway.
